Barbara, remembered

Today I’d like remember Barbara Johns, the 16 year old who led a walkout of her high school in 1951 and helped changed the U.S. laws. Why was she forgotten so long and not given credit for her outsized contribution? Perhaps because. . . 

Not only was she black, poor, and female (the “triple invisibility”) she was also a child. She liked this quotation: “The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them.”
